Queens Park Harriers claimed a hard-fought victory in the fourth round of the Southern League Division 4 West on Saturday to maintain their 100 per cent record in the competition.

Having battled throughout the day with Sutton & District, the Harriers triumphed with 144 points, just five ahead of second-placed Sutton.

Leading the way for Queens Park was Middlesex indoor high jump champion Richmond Hazely Wilson, who claimed victory with 1.75m as well as finishing second on debut in the 400m with a time of 54.9 seconds.

Ade Abu was a dual winner, finishing first in the javelin with a throw of 33.27m and the discus with 29.2m, while he also threw 9.33m in the shot put to finish second.

Brendan Greene won the steeplechase in 11 minutes 22 seconds, while Richard Davis came first in the 400m hurdles B race in 1:27.3.

Harold Lisk came first in the pole vault B competition while Joao Diogo took gold in the 5,000m B race in 20:24.5 and Victor Hutchinson was victorious in the pole vault.

Keith Bacchus won the Harriers' most improved athlete award for his victory in the 100m B race in 12.3 as well as equalling his 200m personal best of 25.2.

Competing for the first time this season, James Walerych put in a brilliant all-round performance to finish second in the 400m hurdles in 1:20.7, as well as coming fifth in both the long jump and triple jump.

Other medallists included Michael Ditrzak, who came second in the 5,000m in 17:25.3, and Andrew Gilligan, who took bronze in the 800m in a personal best time of 2:12.4.

Doddridge Benjamin also finished third in the hammer B event with a throw of 50.7m while James Walerych's jump of 7.66 was good enough to earn him the bronze in the triple jump B event.

The Queens Park relay teams managed to place second in the 4x100m in 50.3 and third in the 4x400m in 4:06.

Finishing just out of the medals were Nicholas Asmoah, who came fourth in the discus with 15.21m and Keith Bacchus, who finished fifth in the long jump with a strong leap of 4.84.

Other notable Harriers efforts were seen from Martin Hill, who threw 7.79 in the shot put and ran 2:21.1 for the 800m, while Bertie Miller ran 66.3 in the 400m B race.
